House Rules
TIMER USE AND BREAKS: Until we get
down to 5 handed the dealer button and blinds must go around the table evenly.
In other words, if you are at 25/50 blind level and have gone around the table
2 times and are half way through going around a 3rd time the blinds will not
increase until you get back to where the dealer button/blinds began. This is to
make it fair for everyone since we don't have pro dealers or anything.
A
timer will be used to time the blind progression. When the timer expires the
next hand will be dealt at the new blind level. For the purposes of this rule,
a hand is considered currently in play once the all blinds/antes are posted AND
the dealer has begun shuffling (riffles the deck). The timer is stopped
during breaks and during any disputes. No additional hands at any table should
be started during such a break although hands already in progress should be
completed.
DEALS: Players are not allowed to make deals. This is due
to the fact that the Tournament Index Scoring can be affected by the order of
the finish.
BLINDS: Blinds will be shown on
the tournament software running on the laptop at the table.
CARD VISIBILITY: Players have to keep their cards in view at all times. Do not
remove the cards from the table
DISCUSSING HANDS: Players are NOT ALLOWED to discuss hands while the hand is in
play.
STRING BET:
No string bets allowed. When raising, a player must either put the amount of
the raise out in one motion or state the raise amount. If the raise is
unannounced then the raise must be made in one motion. If the raise is
announced but no amount is announced - I raise - then the amount of the raise
must be in one motion. If both the raise and the amount are announced - I raise
600 - then the player can make several motions to put chips into the pot since
there is no question about the details.
CHEATING: Anyone caught cheating will be kicked out of the
game.
UNPROTECTED HANDS: If a dealer kills an unprotected hand, the player can not do
anything about it because it is his responsibility to protect his cards. An
exception would be if a player raised and his raise had not been called yet, he
would be entitled to receive his cards back.
TIME: A player has approximately
60 seconds to make a decision about his hand. In situations of extremely
important circumstances a bit more time may be received by asking the dealer.
The decision lies with the dealer whether or not to extend time to the player.
SITTING OUT: In a tournament, a player has the right to sit out
as long as he wants as long as he posts his blinds.
VERBAL DECLARATIONS: Verbal declarations of your action is strongly recommended but
not required. Think before you speak. You have to stick to whatever you say no
questions asked. DON'T THINK OUTLOUD!!! If you have a question as to what the
action is to you ask the dealer!! If you don't verbalize your action whatever
action you take initially will be what you are held to. NO STRING BETTING!
Initial bet into the pot is what you will be held to if you don't verbalize.
SHOWING HANDS - WHEN ALL-IN: When a player is all-in, he has to show his cards.
SHOWING HANDS - WHO SHOWS FIRST: At the showdown: If everyone checks, then everyone
must show their hand - in the order according to the button. If there is
betting on the final round, then the player who puts in the final bet has to
show first and the callers may then muck or show their cards. Basically, the
last aggressor (or in case of all checks around, the first person to the left
of the dealer) must show their cards and everyone else has the option to muck
or show. In order to win a pot however you MUST show a your
hand.
SHOWING HANDS - SHOWING YOUR CARDS TO OTHERS: You are not allowed to
show your cards to another player. If you show your cards to 1 player then you need
to show them to all players, whether it is during a hand or after.
SHOWING HANDS - ASKING TO SEE OTHER PLAYERS CARDS: A player may ask to see
another players mucked cards if he thinks there has been cheating going on. If
a player does it too much then it will be ruled that he is abusing the rule in
order to unfairly get information about another player.
SHOWING HANDS - JUST SHOWING ONE: A player is NOT allowed to show only one card to
take down the pot. You must show your entire hand down.
KILLING HANDS OF ABSENT PLAYERS: A player must be at the table at the end of the
showdown in order to have his hand live. If he is not AT the table when the
last card is dealt to the button, the dealer will kill his hand. If the dealer
does not kill the hand, it will still be considered dead. If he is the blind,
his bet will be posted and his hand dead.
RABBIT HUNTING: If you request a rabbit hunt you must give one of your lowest
chips to the player who won the hand.
DEAD BUTTON - SMALL BLIND BUSTS OUT: If the big blind busts out then the blinds
post their money as usual and the button is in the empty seat.
DEAD BUTTON - BIG BLIND BUSTS OUT: If the big blind busts out then the current
big blind will post their money as usual and there is a dead small blind.
MINIMUM RAISE:
The minimum amount of a raise must be the amount of the previous raise, not the
amount of the previous bet. If the blinds are 100 and 200 and the opener raises
to 600. If the next player wants to raise, then the
minimum raise is now TO 1,000. Because the previous raise
was 400. The minimum re-raise must now be 400. On the turn and the river the
minimum bet is double the big blind.
SIDE POTS:
A player can only win from each player as many chips as he bets. This is called
a main pot. A side pot is created with any subsequent bets.
ALL-IN ON A BLIND: The blinds are 500 and 1,000. The player who is going to post
the big blind has 400 in chips. Another player raises
to 1,000 and the small blind calls. There is a main pot of 1,200 (400+400+400)
and a side pot of 1,200 (600+600).
SEATING:
There will be a table that will seat the 10 participants.
DRAWING SEATS:
Tournament software randomly assigns seating arrangements.
ARRIVING LATE: Any player that has prepaid to get into the
tournament will have to right to have his stack on the table and be blinded
down and has the right to join the tournament at any point as long as he still
has chips.
The status of other players arriving late will be determined at the hosts discretion. He may elect the player to post all his
historical blinds since the start of the tournament.
DRAWING FOR THE BUTTON: Players will be dealt one card each and the
highest card gets the button. Suits will determine a tie between 2 cards.
TOURNAMENTS TIES: If two players (or more) are in-the-money in a tournament and
they go all-in and both get knocked out then the player with the most chips
before the hand will place higher than the player with less chips before the
hand. If they both have an equal number of chips and both get knocked out then
they will finish in a tie.
COLOR UP:
The lowest denomination of chip in play will be removed from the table when it
is no longer needed in the blind or ante structure. We will try to do this
while the game is in play to minimize wasted time.
CHIP RACE OFF: In the case of odd number
of no longer used denomination of chip then there will be a chip race off where
you get a card for each odd chip you have. The person with the highest card
gets the next highest chip.
DISPUTE RESOLUTION: Any topic not covered here
will be decided upon by the tournament director along with help from all of the
tournament participants to come to a fair conclusion. If the tournament
director is involved the rest of the table will make the decision. Where
possible the internet and widely agreed upon poker rules will be used to make a
decision during any disputes.
If
a rule isn't specifically talked about here and can't be decided upon,
Robert's
Rules of Poker will be consulted.
DEALING: With a full 10-handed
tournament the deal will pass amongst the players at the table. However, you
must agree that once you bust out that you will deal until the next person
busts out and then they will take your place. If someone that is dealing wants
to continue to deal then you are off the hook and they must continue dealing
until another person busts out.
FOLDING: All folded cards MUST BE
folded to the dealer and placed UNDER the dealer button.
POT CHOPPING: There will be no small and big
blind pot chopping.
MISDEALS:
Pre-Flop: If during dealing one card
is flipped up on the table or is shown by accident that card is burned and
another card is dealt in its place immediately. If 2 cards are flipped up or
shown by accident during one hand being dealt a misdeal will be declared and
the cards will be re-shuffled and dealt again immediately. This is
non-negotiable. A player WILL NOT be allowed to say
whether or not they would like to keep the card.
Flop: If the flop is misdealt
(i.e. flopped before all players have acted, etc.) all cards not in the players
hands and not folded will be reshuffled immediately and the flop will proceed
at the proper time.
Turn & River:
If
the Turn or the River is misdealt that card will be considered a burn card and
another card will be dealt in its place at the proper time.
